Supervisors approve final Landis Road bridge plans, acquire land

The Jones County Supervisors approved the final plans for a new bridge on Landis Road over the Wapsipinicon River.

Jones County Assistant to Engineer Todd Postel presented the plans to the Supervisors at last week’s meeting. The span will total 454 feet, making it the county’s second-longest bridge, save only for the X75 bridge over the Wapsi. The project includes a road realignment as well.

To facilitate it, the county has been acquiring property right-of-way from adjacent landowners. At last week’s meeting, the board approved giving $7,540 to Ted Biggart for .93 acres of his property, which is on the western bank of the river.
