Supervisors make annual appointments

The Jones County Board of Supervisors met on Jan. 2, 2020, their first meeting in the new year. 

As is custom, the board made several annual appointments during their meeting: 

• Supervisor Wayne Manternach was appointed chair, and Supervisor Joe Oswald was named vice chair. 

• The Monticello Express and Anamosa Journal- Eureka were named official county newspapers for legal publications. 

• Dr. Michael Weston was appointed medical examiner. Kevin Weber, Stephanie Miller, and Joni Wiese were appointed medical examiner investigators. 

• Economic Development Director Derek Lumsden was appointed to the ECICOG Board of Directors for a three-year term. Doug Wortman, Anamosa, was appointed to the ECICOG Revolving Loan Fund Committee for a one-year term. 

• John Hinz was appointed as the District 1 representative on the Board of Adjustment. 

• Wes Gibbs was reappointed as Jones County Weed Commissioner. 

• Joyce Fishwild and James Krapfl were reappointed to the Historic Preservation Commission for two-year terms. Rose Rohr was reappointed for a one-year term on a 3-2 vote. Supervisors Wayne Manternach and Jon Zirkelbach were opposed. 

• Cole Fishwild was reappointed to the Pioneer Cemetery Commission. There are two vacancies left to fill. 

• Supervisor Wayne Manternach and Dr. Kirk Kilburg were reappointed to the Board of Health. 

• Mark Denniston was reappointed to the Civil Service Commission. 

• The board appointed several people to the Region 10 Transportation Committees. They also appointed numerous individuals to the Compensation Commission for eminent domain proceedings.
