Thanks for community support of blood drive

Letter to the Editor

To the Editor and Monticello community,

The Monticello Lions Club would like to thank the Monticello community for their strong support to the American Red Cross blood drive held on April 7.

The Red Cross’ goal for the Monticello blood drive was to get 75 units of blood. We achieved that goal.

A special thank you to the blood donors and to a few potential donors who were unable to donate. The time and effort to come and offer a blood donation is a fine example of community pride.

The Lions would also like to thank Winnie and Fred Williams for donating the snacks, the Monticello Rotary for use of their Red Cross street signs, and the Monticello Fareway for their support and donation of juice and ice.

Promotion is a necessary job to get the word out that the need for blood is great. That was accomplished by the community churches, the community businesses, community factories, and the Monticello Express.

The Lions had a good time helping the Red Cross and we hope the community had a good time, too.

     Thank you, Monticello community.
