Thanks for helping to fill food pantry

Letter to the Editor

To the Editor,

Thank you, Monticello! What a wonderful outpouring of donations for families in need this holiday season. Families, individuals, businesses, churches, and school children/teens fully stocked our Monticello Food Pantry shelves, cooler, and freezers.

Your generous donations helped us serve 51 singles and families in December, totaling 165 adults and children. Our volunteers heard tearful sincere words of gratitude.

Also deserving thanks are so many volunteers who have done the leg work of picking up donations and purchases, unloading, restocking shelves, organizing, collecting boxes for us to use, delivering filled boxes to those unable to reach the pantry (no transportation or quarantined) and masking up to assist our patrons on Monday evenings from 5 to 7 p.m. and Fridays from 2 to 4 p.m. What a great team!

With gratitude and community pride,

Marilyn Schneiderman,

on behalf of the Food Pantry
