Thanksgiving Community Dinner overwhelmed with support during COVID

Letter to the Editor

To the Editor,

I know we say it every year, but we are always amazed, and very thankful, at the generosity of our neighbors in Monticello. Whether it is in the giving of their time to help with food preparation, or the giving of their time to do the meal deliveries, or the giving of their finances to cover the cost of the food, we are very fortunate with all the support we receive.

Being the year of COVID, we were not sure that we would even be able to do a meal this year, but after consulting with the Jones County Public Health Department, we determined that a delivery-only service would be possible. Even the delivery-only service had its challenges as getting enough drivers to cover 11 routes and putting together 300 meals took longer than planned. We hope that the delay of the meal delivery did not alter your Thanksgiving Day plans.

Our current plans are to do next year’s TCD (Thanksgiving Community Dinner) as well, and hopefully it will be a more traditional event.

Warmest wishes for a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

The TCD team,

Bruce and Terry Feuling
