Tim Paul Picray Jan. 15, 1954 – Dec. 23, 2022

      Tim Paul Picray, 68, of West Liberty, Iowa, departed this earthly life on Friday, Dec. 23, 2022.

    Tim Paul Picray was born Jan. 15, 1954, in Monticello, Iowa, the son of Joseph and Eileen (Woellert) Picray. Tim graduated with the class of 1972. Tim married Janeal Paulsen and gained a daughter, Jessi (Somerville). Two children were born to that marriage, Dawn and Ti.  Tim bought a semi and was a truck driver for many years before his motorcycle accident that paralyzed him. After his divorce, Tim found love again with Julie Leibold-Picray, spending the last 30 years together. Tim loved being outdoors, fishing, taking pictures/watching the sunset. Ellie, Tim's loyal dog was his pride and joy. Tim had a great love for music that he shared with his children cruising the countryside playing "name that tune." Tim had a big heart and loved people. There wasn't a person Tim met that he couldn't connect with and become friends. His children and grandkids meant the world to him, and they will forever remember their Papa Tim's contagious smile and laugh. Tim would love to be remembered with funny stories that celebrate what was good and blessed in his life. He will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.

    Survivors include his children, Jessi Somerville of Marengo, Dawn Long and former son-in-law Josh Long of Monticello, and Ti Picray of Monticello; grandchildren, Kyla Williams, Dylan Williams, Ethan Long, Whitney Long, Gracee Tompkins and a bonus family including Doug, Carrie and Zach Yates and Matt Picray; brothers, Roger (Ellen) Picray of Emmettsburg, Doug Picray of Monticello, and Robert (Margie) Picray of Monticello.

    Tim was preceded in death by his parents.

    A celebration of life will be held Jan. 15 from 2-4 p.m. at the Eagles Club, Monticello.
