Today’s Republican Party ‘have lost contact with reality’

To the Editor,
In a perfect world, one would expect better from politicians. At the present time, a no-holds bared fight is underway, and some, like the head of the Republican Party of Iowa, Jeff Kauffmann, are turning on hate and dismissive words about Andy McKean simply because he changed parties! Excuse me! This still is a free country, and doing what he did wasn’t done as a lark! The fanatics that are now housed in what once was a democratically organized Republican Party, have so lost contact with reality, Andy could not, in good conscience, continue. The relevancy to his doing this was of conscience, not to blindly follow along behind policies that clearly are destroying Iowa and the country. Policies Jeff believes are going to work for him in spite of what they may do to the state or the country! I, for one, am not interested in turning over what little is left of government to a dictator who currently is a felon! Democrats need to claw back a sizable chunk of power to counter some of the policies these Republican fascists in control of Iowa have instituted and challenge them! Andy has a better than average record of responding to his voters be they Republican or Democrat, his favoritism is to the voter, not party bosses who support incumbents who fail to show up for meetings with the public or debates over his actions representing his voters. I once knew Jeff, back when he was a Republican who represented Cedar County. In those days he was not so radical or inconsiderate of others. With that said, he did manage to relieve Iowa taxpayers of $300,000 to refurbish a monument to Iowa Civil War soldiers in Mississippi! So much for lowering taxes when it came to something he wanted!
