Jones County Economic Development (JCED) works hard to help businesses and our communities continue to grow and prosper. While we can do this a number of ways, one of the best ways to get information is directly from the source. That’s why each year we do a number of business visits across different business sectors and in different areas of the county, both in incorporated and non-incorporated areas. These visits tell us a lot about what a business/community might be thinking, projects they might be taking on, and what assistance we might be able to provide to them.

2020 and 2021 have been very different thanks to the events of the last year, including the COVID-19 pandemic, the derecho, etc. So when we met with businesses, we understood that there might be a lot of new information and needs that we had not heard in past years… and might not hear again in future years once we come out of this era. However, when we tabulated what we heard, we realized that most of the same issues continue to plague our businesses and communities. While there were a few exceptions thanks to the events of the past year, most of the continued concerns rose to the surface. Below is the top 10 list of challenges that most businesses are facing as we look forward to the next year:

While this is not an exhaustive list of the challenges being faced by our businesses and communities, they are issues that JCED will continue to work on. Always remember that JCED is here as a resource to our business and that we always try to help our businesses and communities grow and prosper.
