Two-vehicle accident results in injury

     A two-vehicle accident took place on Feb. 8 around 4 p.m. on Highway 38/S. Main Street and E. Washington Street, adjacent to Monticello Middle School.

     According to the Monticello Police Department’s accident report, 14-year-old Tori Elaine McDonald, of Monticello, was driving a 2014 Chevy Traverse LT as she attempted to make a left-hand turn from E. Washington Street onto S. Main Street. McDonald hit Daniel Melvin Yousse, 65, of Monticello, who was driving a 2012 Ford F150. Yousse was driving southbound on S. Main.

     McDonald reported no injuries. Yousse was transported to Jones Regional Medical Center by the Monticello Ambulance Service for a head injury.

     Both vehicles sustained approximately $6,000 in damages each.

     McDonald was cited for failure to yield from a stoplight.
