Monticello High School senior Tyler Luensman has been selected to play in the 2021 Iowa Shrine All-Star Football Game, scheduled for Saturday, July 24 at the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls.

Luensman, a receiver and defensive back for the MHS football team this past fall, was the leading receiver for the Panthers with 46 catches for 805 yards and six touchdowns. Defensively, he had two interceptions, 3.5 tackles-for-loss and 50.5 total tackles for the 6-3 Panthers. He was voted to the Iowa Print Sports Writers Association all-state first team.

“This is a great accomplishment for Tyler,” Monticello football coach Wes Wilson said. “He has worked extremely hard in his career, been a great leader and a great teammate. It is tough to get players on the Shrine Bowl roster, so we were excited to get the call that Tyler had made it.

Luensman will report to training camp at the University of Northern Iowa July 18.
