GIRLS BASKETBALL RECAP

     Monticello held a third quarter lead, but Cascade’s big second half run was the difference as the visiting Cougars defeated the Panther varsity reserve girls basketball team 34-26 Wednesday, Dec. 21 at Monticello High School.

     The Panthers took a 21-16 lead in the final minute of the third quarter, but Cascade went on a 12-0 run to take a 28-21 lead by the middle of the third quarter, and went on to win.

     Monticello had a balanced scoring attack, with nine different Panthers putting up points. They included Savanah Kremer with five points, Anna Loes and Carly Hayen with four apiece, Maddie Fellinger with three, and Meredith Melchert, Sydney Hansen, Sami Fritz, Paige Holub and Jacqueline Petersen with two apiece.

     Jordan Simon had nine points for Cascade.
