Veterans from the Monticello area are invited to attend a Veterans Day assembly Monday, Nov. 12 at Monticello High School.

The event will begin with a breakfast from 7 to 8:10 a.m., prepared by the high school foods classes and served by the Student Council.

Students and veterans will then gather in the auditorium for the assembly, which is scheduled to run from 8:20 to 8:45 a.m. Sophomore Levi Temple will sing the national anthem. Two veterans will be guest speakers: Clyde Meyer on “Citizenship and Patriotism,” and Doug Kramer on “Service and Community.”

Also at the assembly, a plaque showing the names of MHS alumni who served in World War II will be unveiled from 8:45 to 9 a.m. The plaque will be mounted on the wall across from the display case near the high school gym.

Veterans are encouraged to attend. They are asked to park in the back lot by the greenhouse, and enter through the back door.
