Vote based on job performance, not one issue

Letter to the Editor

To the Editor,

I’m concerned about the contest for supervisor in District 3 being a one-issue campaign.

The 4-1 vote was to support Jones County Conservation’s recommended solution to the Mon Maq Dam. The $2 million removal figure being tossed around is mostly grant money, which I agree is taxpayer money, but for all of Iowa – not just Jones County. This was also the same procedure used on Central Park’s improvements, Hale Bridge, Wapsi Trail, and other historic ventures.

I’m sure none of us (myself included) agree with all decisions made by the board, whether their vote was 4-1, 5-0, or 3-2. But to make your choice for Supervisor based on one issue is wrong. There are many other issues of importance that the board is responsible for to take into consideration. Take all issues into account when making your decision.

I feel our present board is doing a good job, taking care of the many facets of county government.

Take total job performance into account when casting your vote, not just one issue.

     Vote Jon Zirkelbach.
