Vote for Jeff Swisher on June 2

Letter to the Editor

To the Editor,

There is an important election upon us. No, it is not the Presidential Election; it’s much closer to home than that. It is for a position with the Jones County Board of Supervisors.

On June 2, 2020, Jeff Swisher will have his name on the ballot for a seat on the Jones County Board of Supervisors. This position needs to be held by someone who knows our communities. Someone who knows the people, their concerns, needs, and can formulate a plan to solve situations that arise.

These are certainly trying times for many within our county. We need someone who knows what is needed. No person on our board should be focused on any single area within the county. They should in fact be making decisions based off the entire county’s needs. There is no person more qualified to address these needs and concerns than Jeff Swisher.

I have known Jeff both on the professional and personal level for more than 20 years. We have had many tough discussions concerning the future of Jones County over the years. He has taken steps to assist the residents of this county in many ways during this time.

Jeff Swisher has always been a leader when it comes to stepping up and taking on tough tasks. As an Anamosa volunteer fireman, he has acted in many capacities including the fire chief. During this time, he dedicated his life to the citizens of Jones County as a police officer, a deputy sheriff, and most recently finishing out his career as the chief deputy.

You see, Swisher is not the guy who stands by idly while others get in the fray. He is the one who dons the fire suit and the gun belt because someone must go through that door! He is the type of man who still stops and helps the person stranded on the side of the road. Rich, poor, white collar or blue collar, Jeff Swisher answers the call and finds a solution. A life of service to the people has given Jeff Swisher a unique opportunity to get to know all our communities whether it is rural or residential.

It is now our opportunity to vote for Jeff Swisher so that we have someone to represent all of us and forge a new path for all Jones County residents. Someone who believes he has a duty to the citizens he represents, even when there is no reward.

On June 2, 2020, take the time to cast your vote for Jeff Swisher.

Sincerely,

Brian Eckhardt
