Votes count in this country, this state

Letter to the Editor

To the Editor,

It has been well over a year since the Presidential Election. After court cases and recounts, it was determined that Joe Biden was the winner. After each state election board certified the results in that state, Biden received 306 electoral votes.

In one of the close states, which is Georgia, after several recounts, the Georgia Secretary of State determined that Joe Biden won the state of Georgia by 11,779 votes.

Remember the election of 2000 when George W. Bush and Al Gore were the candidates for president and Bush won the State of Florida by 537 votes? Whoever won Florida won the presidency. Al Gore received more popular votes, but George W. Bush, after barely winning Florida, received 271 electoral votes. Also, if Al Gore would have won just one additional state, Al Gore would have been the 43rd President of the United States. Al Gore eventually conceded that Bush won Florida and was rightfully elected as president.

It doesn’t matter how you voted; Joe Biden is the President of the United States.

In Iowa’s Second Congressional District, after recounting votes in various counties, it was certified by Iowa’s Secretary of State Paul Pate, who is a Republican, and Rob Sand, who is a Democrat, that Mariannette Miller-Meeks won the Second District by six votes.

Joe Biden is the President of the United States, and Mariannette Miller-Meeks is rightfully the representative for the Second Congressional District. There were individuals who disputed that and thought Rita Hart should be the representative. Eventually Rita Hart conceded that Mariannette Miller-Meeks won the Second District by six votes.

On Jan. 6, 2021, a bunch of so-called Conservative thugs insurrected the U.S. Capitol, assaulted police officers, vandalized the Capitol, and made death threats to our then-Vice President Mike Pence.

If insurrections continue because their candidate didn’t get elected, then we will not have a country. I consider many right-wing Republicans a DISGRACE and have NO RESPECT for many Conservative Republicans.
