Waukon edges Panther JV

FOOTBALL

     Monticello’s junior varsity football team has performed well against powerhouse programs in Class 2A, District 4 this season, having beaten Cascade and tied with Union of La Porte City.

     The Panthers also had a competitive performance during the Sept. 29 homecoming game against Waukon, but came up on the short end, by a score of 18-14.

     Several Panthers had strong statistical efforts. Bo Kramer rushed 23 times for 100 yards and a touchdown, and Chance Janssen had 16 carries for 78 yards.

     Quarterback Jeff Carlson completed seven of 14 passes for 118 yards and a touchdown. Tyler Luensman caught four passes for 75 yards and a score, and Kain Luensman had two catches for 31 yards.

     Defensively, Ben Oswald led the team in tackles with nine. Spencer Avery had 5.5, Tyler Luensman and Janssen had 4.5 apiece, and Cade Folken had four. Tyler Luensman and Avery had one sack each. Luke Lambert intercepted a Waukon pass and returned it 10 yards.

     The Panthers are 3-2-1.
