West Liberty tops MHS

BOYS SOCCER

Monticello got three goals from Gavin Holub, but was unable to keep pace with West Liberty in a May 1 boys soccer match played in Monticello.

The Panthers (3-6) lost by score of 12-3.

“Our team moved the ball well, and that produced a lot of scoring chances,” Monticello coach Phil Gilkerson said. “But West Liberty had a speedy attack that kept us on the back foot for portions of the game.”

Holub finished with three shots on goal, and Tony Wallerich had one. Panther goalkeeper Noah Halder made 11 saves.
