Why are you voting 'Yes?'

“I am voting ‘yes’ because we need new facilities. I attended school in that building; I graduated in 1961. Technology has changed and the building can’t.” (Phyllis Tapken)

“I am voting ‘yes’ I have three small children in the school district. I’ve walked through new schools in other districts. Our kids need the same resources. They need a safe entry into the building, updated electrical work, and fire safety.” (Johna Phillipson)

“I am voting ‘yes’ because the middle school is outdated and it’s a huge cost factor. I am totally in support of a central campus for academics and athletics.” (Todd Lambert)

“I am voting ‘yes’ because of the learning environment in the middle school. The cost of running the building is not economical for the district. That building has far outdone itself.” (Becky Cooper)

The Monticello Express is heading to the streets of Monticello, asking residents why they plan to support the school bond issue and vote “yes.” Each week we will feature those who strongly support the new middle school project, and why they feel it’s a needed investment.
