Why I will be voting for Trump…

Letter to the Editor

To the Editor,

These are a few of the numerous reasons I will be voting for Donald Trump in November:

During the Trump Administration, our border was much more secure. Recent data from ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) shows that as of July 21, 2024, 435,000 undocumented migrants with criminal convictions have been released into cities around our country (borderreport.com). Slave trade and abuse of women and children, the import of fentanyl are other concerns connected to illegal border crossings.

During the Trump years, the average cost of a gallon of gasoline dipped from $2.37 to $2.28 from December 2016 to 2020. President Trump believes that the U.S. should be energy independent and develop our resources here at home. We should not be dependent on our adversaries for oil. Gas prices have increased during the Biden-Harris Administration, hitting a high of $5/gal in 2022 (forbes.com) and are currently at an average of $3.24/gal, which is over $1.00 higher than the Trump average. Gas prices affect every product we use and have contributed to inflation.

Inflation, which affects all of us at the grocery store, gas pump, electric
bills, housing, etc., was up 19 percent over the first 42 months of Biden-Harris term compared to 6 percent during Trump’s first 42 months. This according to the government’s consumer price index at forbes.com.

The question we must ask ourselves: Are we better off, individually and as a country, during the four years of Biden-Harris or was it better with the leadership of Donald Trump? I firmly believe the answer is President Trump.
