Wildcats close regular season

MAQUOKETA VALLEY RECAP

 

Baseball

   The Maquoketa Valley baseball team ended its regular season schedule with a 4-2 loss on June 27 at home against Lisbon. Michael Schaul pitched for the Wildcats and went five innings, allowed three runs and struck out two batters. Toby Grimm pitched the last two innings and allowed the last run.

   At the plate, T.J. Cook had two hits and one RBI. Michael Schaul also had two hits in the game.

   The Wildcats were scheduled to play Midland, at Easton Valley on July 2 in the first round of the Class 1A district tournament.

   The Wildcats ended the regular season with a 14-6 record overall, 11-3 in Tri-Rivers Conference play.

 

Softball

   The Maquoketa Valley softball team dropped both games of a Senior Night doubleheader on June 27 when it played host to Lisbon. In game one, the Wildcats lost 14-0 in five innings. Carissa Sabers and Addie Vorwald had the two hits for the Wildcats.

   In game two, the Wildcats (3-17, 6-17) lost 13-2 in five innings. Kallie Freiburger and Jada Knipper each had a double and one RBI in the game.
