Wildcats fall in TRC matches

VOLLEYBALL

     Maquoketa Valley had a pair of Tri-Rivers Conference volleyball matches last week, and lost both.              

     The Wildcats (0-2, 7-9) played at Edgewood-Colesburg Sept. 18, and lost in four sets, by scores of 22-25, 25-20, 23-25, 21-25. Maddy Anderegg had 29 assists, contributing to the team’s total of 40 kills. MV’s kill leaders were Emerson Whittenbaugh with 14, Maci Freiburger with nine, Lydia Helle with six and Olivia Hoeger with five. Ella Imler had 25 of the team’s 77 digs, Whittenbaugh had 16, Freiburger had 14, and Anderegg had 11. Helle had five blocks, and Hoeger had three. Brooke Wilson and Freiburger each served two aces.

     MV returned home to play Starmont Sept. 20, and again lost in four sets. After winning the first one 25-15, the Wildcats fell 24-26, 16-25, 22-25.

     Anderegg put up 36 assists, contributing to the Wildcats’ 49 kills. Whittenbaugh had 19 kills, and Freiburger had 13. Imler had 18 digs, and Whittenbaugh had 13. Imler also served 17-for-17. Allie Knipper served three aces.
