Wildcats shine at TRC Indoor

Boys track

     Maquoketa Valley had a pair of wins and a total of seven top-three finishes at the Tri-Rivers Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships March 22 at the University of Dubuque.

     James LeGassick won the 200-meter dash in 24.32 seconds, and the 400 in 54.12.

     Brian Heims was second and Michael Feldmann third in the shot put. Also finishing third were Ethan Doyl in the 1,600, the 4x200 relay team of Daniel Hunter, Evan Hoeger, A.J. Ambundo and Zach Digman; and the 4x400 relay of Hunt, Chance Downs, Owen Mensen and Derek Becker.

     Fourth place finishes went to Nolan Ries in the 800 and LeGassick in the long jump. In fifth was Norm Wilson in the shot put. Taking sixth were Andrew Kloser in the 400 and Teige Hunt in the 55 hurdles. The 4x800 relay team was seventh, and Jon Seibert placed eighth in the 400.

 

Girls track

     Maquoketa Valley had a win and three runner-up finishes at the Tri-Rivers indoor meet March 22 at the University of Dubuque.

     Samantha Wall won the 55-meter dash with a time of 7.64 seconds.

     Second place finishes were earned by Leah Ries in the 55 hurdles, Lydia Helle in the shot put, and the 4x400 relay team of Payton Beaman, Allie Knipper, Amaya Hunt, and Wall.

     Finishing fourth was Emerson Whittenbaugh in the 400. In fifth were the 4x200 relay team and the 4x800 relay team. Taya Tucker finished seventh in the long jump, and Kriya Atwell was eighth in the 1,500.
