Wildcats win Early Bird meet

     Maquoketa Valley scored 167 points to win the West Delaware Early Bird boys track and field meet March 26 in Manchester.

     Lisbon finished second with 92 points, and Hudson was third with 77 in the eight-team field.

     Winning their events for Maquoketa Valley were Derek Becker in the 200-meter dash, 23.78 seconds; Chance Downs in the 400, 52.67; Downs in the 1,600, 4:59.18; Chad Neuzil in the 110 hurdles, 15.95; James LeGassick in the 400 hurdles, 58.16; LeGassick in the long jump, 19-foot-4; the 4x100 weightman’s relay, 56.70; and the shuttle hurdle relay, 1:04.13.

     Finishing second for the Wildcats were Daniel Hunter in the 100, AJ Ambundo in the 200, Ambundo (tied) in the high jump, Becker in the 400, Blake Becker in the discus, Michael Feldmann in the shot put, the 4x100 relay, the 4x400 relay, the sprint medley relay, and the distance medley relay.

     In third were Jon Seibert in the 400, and the 4x200 relay.
