Williams is named IIAC all-conference

     Coe College men’s basketball senior Spencer Williams of Monticello has been named to the All-Iowa Conference Second Team.

     Williams ranked 21st in the Iowa Conference in scoring with 11.7 points per game, while ranking fourth in the league with 7.1 rebounds. Williams was one of three people in the league to average double digits in scoring and more than seven rebounds per game in league play. He also led the league in field goal percentage at 73.0 and blocked shots per game at 1.6. Williams was one of two players in the league to average over two offensive rebounds per game, while ranking third in the league with five defensive rebounds per game.

     Over the course of the entire season, Williams led NCAA Division III in field goal percentage at 75.4 percent. Williams and Kansas' Udoka Azubuike (77.4 percent) are the only two players at all NCAA levels to shoot over 75 percent for the season. Williams’ percentage ranks third in NCAA Division III history, while he is the first person in the last nine years to lead the country while shooting over 71 percent for the season.

     He is the son of Greg and Jill Williams, Monticello.
