Wilson sentenced to 20 years in prison
Amber Wilson
On Oct. 31, Amber Wilson was sentenced to an indeterminate term not to exceed 10 years in prison on two separate matters, to be run consecutive to one another, along with a five-year term to be run concurrently to said sentences. (For a total of 20 years.) Wilson previously entered a plea of guilty to conspiracy to commit a forcible felony, a Class C felony; theft in the first degree, a Class C felony; and failure to affix a drug tax stamp with regard to possession of methamphetamine, a Class D felony.
She was also fined a total of $3,765 plus court costs.
The allegations were that while Wilson was in custody on drug and theft charges, she conspired with her boyfriend in an attempt to violently escape the Jones Count Jail in Late July of 2022.
These cases were investigated by the Office of the Jones County Sheriff and the Anamosa Police Department.
Assistant Jones County Attorney Sara Smith handled the successful prosecution on behalf of the State of Iowa.
