Women Marketing Grain course to start in 2019

Women Marketing Grain, a four-session course designed to help farm women learn market strategies and stay on track for long term market success, is being offered by Iowa State University Extension and Outreach – Jones County at 800 N. Maple St., Monticello.

Classes will begin Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2019 and continue Thursday, Jan. 10, Tuesday, Jan. 15 and Thursday, Jan. 17. Classes will be from 9:00 a.m. to noon with a light meal served at 8:30 a.m. Online registration is available at www.aep.iastate.edu/womeninag or at the Jones County Extension office.

Farm women participating in Women Marketing Grain become better business partners and owners by learning to manage and organize critical information for their own farms, while establishing networks with other farm women and agriculture business professionals.

According to ISU Extension and Outreach farm management specialist, Ryan Drollette, Women Marketing Grain participants will know more about identifying crop prices and marketing costs, understanding price movements and utilizing a variety of crop marketing tools.

“Our goal is to provide a program that is of great interest and value. Each session includes presentations, discussions and hands-on activities,” Drollette said.

“In addition, guest speakers share their personal experiences and knowledge to help women become better business partners and owners,” said Drollette.

“Women Marketing Grain empowers women by offering a valuable set of business-based workshops. The program helps participants learn market strategies and how to stay on track for long-term marketing success,” said Madeline Schultz, ISU Extension and Outreach Women in Agriculture program manager.
