     • One would expect to see a fully functional music studio in New York, Los Angeles or Nashville, not right here in Monticello, Iowa. Dale and Jeanne Heeren purchased music recording studio-type equipment and installed everything right in their own home. They have the capabilities to do both digital and analog recordings. They have recorded Express sports editor Pete Temple and Monticello’s own Jim McDonough’s first cassette tape. (6/2/2010)

     • Armin and Betty Jacobs of Monticello received special recognition at the 14th annual meeting of the United States Pilots Association.      • The Memorial Day service at Scotch Grove, last Saturday afternoon drew a large crowd. The day was fine and the roads good and people from Hopkinton, Monticello, Anamosa, Center Junction and Onslow, were in attendance. The music by the male quartet was most excellent as it always is, and the boys responded to the encores in a very gratifying manner. (6/3/1920)

     • The twenty-two recently graduated seniors of the Monticello high school went to Cedar Rapids, last Saturday, for a last good time together. They took dinner at Anamosa and then motored on to Cedar Rapids. Some of them went to the track meet while others went to the “movies”. At six o’clock they had supper and in the evening occupied two rows of seats at the “Majestic.” (6/3/1920)
