You have been there for us through the toughest of times. We want you to know that your newspaper will be there for you now. #ThereWithYou

As the United States and the State of Iowa face the worst public health crisis in a generation, we want you to know we are here for you — and with you.

Whatever happens, whenever it happens, the Monticello Express will be there for you. We’ll be there to let you know how our community, our state is managing through this crisis — from business to government to the health care system and schools to the drastic impact on individuals and families.

And we’ll be there to let you know about the good and extraordinary things happening in the midst of this crisis —the individuals going out of their way to help our senior citizens, the city and nonprofit workers attending to those in need, the volunteers bringing food to elderly people who cannot leave their homes, the healthcare workers putting themselves in harm’s way to care for the sick.

Amidst the sadness and anxiety, there will be uplifting moments that remind us of the resilience of the human spirit, and we’ll be there to document those too.

Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds has been keeping our state abreast of the ever changing pandemic, stating, “We will continue to take additional steps as necessary to further protect the health of Iowans and our economy.” We will do our best to pass along this information in a quick and timely manner.

As this process evolves, updates can be found on both our Facebook page and our website, monticelloexpress.com, which now can be viewed without the need for a subscription. We are here to help you make sense of the situation and to help you navigate it with fact-based, reliable reporting.

This challenge is greater than anything we have ever faced, but, rest assured, we’ll be here for you. Iowa is a resilient state, Jones County is a resilient county and Monticello is a resilient community where people come together to build and rebuild. Let’s work together, and we will come through this, too.
