MFD presents rock concert on July 6, fireworks to follow

To commemorate the Fourth of July holiday, on Friday, July 6, the Monticello Fire Department is holding a concert on the stage at the fairgrounds, with Arch Allies performing from 7 to 10 p.m. The tribute band covers hits from such groups as STYX, Journey and REO Speedwagon. Advance tickets are $8 and $10 at the gate. Kids 12 and under are free. Tickets can be purchased from a member of the fire department, at the Chamber Office (200 E. First St.), from a Chamber Board member, at Citizens State Bank, at Ohnward Bank & Trust, at Spahn & Rose and The Monticello Express.

Gates for the concert open at 6 p.m. No coolers will be allowed on the grounds. A beer tent and food stands will be located on the track during the concert, with food provided by the Jones County Pork Producers, Chamber’s Commercial Club, Jones County Youth Development and Rotary and Wolken’s Ice Cream.

Other events for the night include J&P Cycles’ event trailer, Walnut Acres Campground bounce house, face and nail painting and more.

Fireworks will go off on July 6th, following the concert. If you are not interested in attending the concert, the gates will open at 9 p.m. for free admission into the fairgrounds to watch the fireworks.

In case of rain on the 6th, the concert will be moved inside the Berndes Center at the fairgrounds. The rain date for fireworks in Saturday, July 7.

This event is sponsored by the Monticello Fire Department, Monticello Area Chamber of Commerce, Citizens State Bank, Ohnward Bank & Trust, Goettsch Funeral Home, the Century House, Monticello Lions Club, the City of Monticello and the Monticello Chamber Ambassadors.
