Judith Ann (Black) Freeland passed away Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012 at the age of 72 after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be held at the Community Center in Hopkinton, on Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012 at 2 p.m.
Judith Ann Black was born in Monticello, Iowa on April 3, 1940, daughter of Paul and Dorothy (Specht) Black. She was married to Lowell Freeland on Aug. 14, 1965 at Peniel Presbyterian Church, in rural Monticello.
Judith spent her entire career as an elementary school teacher in Iowa and Minnesota. She loved her students as much as they loved her. After retirement, she spent many years volunteering in classrooms.
Surviving are her husband, Lowell Freeland; sister, Cathy Black of Monticello; and her brother, Richard Black of Farley. She is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and aunt.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Dorothy Black; and her brother, Robert Black.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Camp Courageous of Iowa in Monticello or to a charity of your choice.
