The Monticello High School football team handed out awards during its annual banquet Monday, Nov. 5 at the Community Building.
Shane Blake, who resigned as head coach of the team near the end of the season, served as moderator.
“I was given a wonderful gift,” Blake said of his 10-year tenure as head coach.
Guest speaker, Douglas DiBell of New Life Community Church of the Nazarene served as guest speaker, offering a speech about positive attitudes and handling life’s disappointments and challenges.
Those in attendance enjoyed steaks to go along with potluck items.
The Panthers finished the season with a record of 2-4 in Class 2A, District 4; and were 3-6 overall.
Awards that were presented are listed below.
TEAM AWARDS
Most Valuable Offense - Tanner Felton.
Most Valuable Defense - Logan McQuillen.
Most Valuable Lineman – Daniel Pike.
Special Teams Award – Tanner Felton.
Will to Win Award – Michael Reuter.
Most Valuable JV - Marcus Norton.
ALL-DISTRICT AWARDS
First team - Jacob Black, Tanner Felton, Logan McQuillen, Daniel Pike.
Second team - T.J. Decker, Trae Fuhrmeister, Michael Reuter.
Honorable mention – Jayson Blunt, Isaac Holtz.
Golden Award – Chris Tjaden.
ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT
First team - Jacob Black, Jayson Blunt, T.J. Decker, Isaac Holtz, Logan McQuillen, Peyton Paddock, Daniel Pike, Michael Reuter, Craig Welter.
Second team - Matt Freese, Sawyer Herman, Cody Jamison.
