Mary Weber, age 80, died Monday evening, Jan. 14, 2013 at the Monticello Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following an extended illness.
Funeral services were held 10:30 a.m. Saturday morning, Jan. 19, 2013 at St. Luke’s Catholic Church, Hopkinton where friends called after 9:30 a.m.
Mary E. Naber was born April 6, 1932 at Dyersville, Iowa. She was the daughter of Clement and Ellanora Kramer, Naber. Mary attended the St. Francis of Xavier School in Dyersville. She later worked as a hired girl for the Mark Beckman family and the Joe Delay family. Donald J. Weber and Mary E. Naber were married on Sept. 12, 1951 at St Francis Basilica, Dyersville. The couple lived in Texas while Don was stationed at Fort Bliss. Mary worked as a grocery clerk there. The couple purchased their farm in Union Township, Delaware County, Iowa on Feb. 8, 1956. They farmed there until they retired on Sept. 8, 2009. You could always find Mary in a tractor at harvest time hauling in corn. She and Don often hosted groups for the Harvestor Company. Mary loved to quilt, cross-stitch and embroider, she also enjoyed going to the timber to pick berries of any kind.
Surviving is a son, Dan, a granddaughter, Beth (Troy) Wolfs, and two great-grandchildren, Tayler and Jordon, all of Tiffin, two sisters, Agnes (Gerald) Weber, Cedar Rapids, Betty (Eugene) Krapfl, Earlville, a brother, Frank (Joyce) Naber, Dyersville, her sister-in-law Luella (Duane Jr.) DeShaw, Hopkinton, a brother-in-law, Delbert (Colleen) Weber, Monticello. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 60 years, Donald, three sisters, Mae Schaffer, Jeanette Boge, Jane McGrane a brother Henry Naber and four half siblings.
