The cars won’t be the only stars at one of the region’s longest running rod and custom car shows this weekend. KCRG-TV9 presents the 44th Annual O’Reilly Auto Parts Rod & Custom Car Show, featuring the usual line-up of cherry show vehicles in addition to a special appearance by Catherine Bach of “The Dukes of Hazzard” and “The Young and the Restless” TV fame, who will be available for autographs and photos.

Once again, the winter family fun event will be held at the Monticello Berndes Center, 766 N. Maple St., only 35 miles from Cedar Rapids or Dubuque on U.S. Highway 151.

Visitors will see a new collection of street rods, custom cars, street machines, custom motorcycles, race cars and hot pickup trucks. Winning exhibitors will receive trophies and Citizens State Bank cash prizes. Spectators will vote the People’s Choice Awards for cars/pickups, motorcycles and model cars. O’Reilly Auto Parts once again will be providing door prizes in the form of gift cards.

Added attractions this year:

3-D Sound Company DJ Dave Palmer will provide music and commentary and serve as awards MC for the 14th consecutive year.

Caricature artist David Fliss, Flissart Entertainment, will provide free visitor portraits.

Balloon artist Jacob Cowger, aka. Sparkles the Clown, will delight the kids.

Roving ventriloquist Rick Jenkins will entertain young and old.

The A.J. Foyt/ABC Supply Co. Indy Car will be on display.

The 28th Annual Model Car Contest will award trophies and model kits in four categories.

Catherine Bach is an American original. It was a pair of cut-offs for her character “Daisy Duke” on the TV series “The Dukes of Hazzard” that first captured the attention of millions of fans. She currently plays “Anita” on the long-running daytime show “The Young and the Restless.” In addition to her acting, Bach is also a jewelry and clothing designer and entrepreneur.

Bach will be available for autographs and photos on Saturday, Feb. 23, from noon to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 9 p.m., and on Sunday, Feb. 24, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. A selection of vintage and current Catherine Bach photos will be available for sale at the show.

Car show hours are 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Feb. 23, and 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Feb. 24. The awards presentation is set for 7:30 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for children 12 and under. Children 12 and under are admitted free with a paid adult. Get $1 off by bringing a can of food to benefit Four Oaks family programs. Parking is free.
