Dale Brewer, age 96, of Monticello, died Tuesday evening, April 2, 2013, peacefully at his home surrounded by loving family.
Private family services were held on Friday, April 5, 2013, with interment in the Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation was held Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello.
Dale Bayne Brewer was born Feb. 9, 1917 in Echo, Mo. He was the son of Fred and Jennie Bayne, Brewer. Dale received his education in the Bynumville, Mo. schools with the class of 1935.
Dale moved to Davenport, where he met his future bride, Emmaretta Cummings. Dale and Emmaretta were married by his father at the Brewer family home in Echo on Sept. 4, 1937. This union lasted for 63 years, until Emmaretta’s death in 2001. Dale became a aviation master mechanic. He worked at several different airports in the Quad Cities, before moving to Monticello in 1967. Dale was the aviation service manager for the Monticello Airport from 1967 until he retired from that position in 1991.
Dale had a great love of music. He played the harmonica, guitar, organ and accordion. He also enjoyed the many family camping outings over the years.
Surviving are 11 children: Arlin (Jean) Brewer of Palatka, Fla., Jennie Lutz of Davenport, Lenora (Wesley) Rook of Dubuque, JoAnn (Russell) Hascall of Dahinda, Ill., Larry (Sue) Brewer of Sister, Ore., Danny (Sandra) Brewer of Monticello, Margaret Garrett of Davenport, John (Jean) Brewer of Lakeville, Minn., Pami (Dennis) Foster of Swisher, Patti (Jim) McAndrew of Monticello, and Teresa Bartels of Olin; 25 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; two sons-in-law, Kenneth Lutz and Kim Bartels; one sister; and four brothers.
