4-H hosts Clothing and Communication Event

The Jones County 4-H Clothing and Communication Event was held at the Youth Development Center on Saturday, March 23, 2013. Members participated in educational presentations, working exhibits, extemporaneous speaking, clothing selection, fashion revue, $15 challenge and Share-the-Fun.

Participating in working exhibits were Jensen and Ethan Orr and Cody Tracy of the Wyoming Pioneers – “Cheetos Carrots,” receiving an excellence and advancing to the state fair; Shyanne Kirby and Elizabeth Creveling of Jones County Central –“Butterfly Snacks,” receiving an excellence and advancing to the state fair; and Courtney Campbell and Kehde Campbell of Scotch Grove Challengers – “Paperclip Bookmarks,” receiving an excellence and advancing to state fair. Also participating were Katie McDermott of Prairie Hill – “DVD Case Photo Album,” receiving an excellence and selected as state fair alternate; and Morgan Soper and Nicole Guenther of Oxford Happy Hustlers – “Homemade Headbands,” receiving a merit.

Educational presentations given in the senior division were as follows: “Winter Survival Kit” by Jensen Orr, Ethan Orr, Cody Tracy and Brandon Dirks of the Wyoming Pioneers – excellence and advancing to state fair; “Lely Robotic Milking System” by Skylar Hosch of Richland R & R – excellence and advancing to state fair; “Beef Showmanship” by Michelle Feuss of the Oxford Livewires – excellence and advancing to state fair; “Basics of Building a Resume” by Bernadette Poduska of the Be Originals – excellence and advancing to state fair; “How Long and Where to Store Food” by Pansy Quinn of the Oxford Happy Hustlers – merit and state fair alternate; “Beautiful Bows” by Kate Baumler of Be Original – merit; “Braille” by Tiffany Feuss of the Oxford Livewires – merit, and “Basic Canine Information” by Elizabeth Creveling and Shyanne Kirby of the Jones County Central – recognition.

Educational presentations given in the junior members were as follows: “4-H Apple Salad” by Lexi Bright and Lauren Martensen of the Jackson Wise Owls – merit; “Basketball Fundamentals” by Iziek Soper and Ethan Milder of the Wyoming Pioneers – merit; and “Sponge Ball” by Peyton Lasack of Oxford Livewires – merit.

Members participating in extemporaneous speaking were Logan McQuilllen of the Scotch Grove Challengers – excellence and advancing to state fair; and Bernadette Poduska of the Be Original – excellence and advancing to state fair.

Share-the-Fun skits were done by the following members: Samantha Miller of Richland R&R – state fair selection; Holly Beringer of Scotch Grove Challengers – state fair selection; Alisa Braden of Fairview Thunderbolts – state fair selection; and Hannah Shelton-Hauck – state fair alternate. Also participating were Grace Lubben – excellence; and Erika Braden and Cheyenne Varner of Fairview Thunderbolts – excellence.

Junior members participating in the $15 Challenge were as follows: Maisie Paulsen of Jackson Wise Owls – excellence, Samantha Miller of Richland R&R – excellence; Jabezz Husmann of Prairie Hill – excellence; Kristen Roher of the Jackson Wise Owls – excellence; Ericka Braden of the Fairview Thunderbolts – excellence; Kehde Campbell of the Scotch Grove Challengers – excellence; and Lauren Martensen of the Jackson Wise Owls – excellence.

Intermediate $15 Challenge participants were Cole Fishwild of the Wyoming Pioneers – excellence and state fair selection; Holly Beringer of Richland R & R – excellence and alternate to state fair; Landon Hunter of the Wyoming Pioneers – excellence; Emma Paulsen of Wyoming Pioneers – excellence; Alisha Braden of the Fairview Thunderbolts – merit.

Senior member participants of $15 Challenge were Darcey Tjaden of the Wyoming Pioneers – excellence and state fair selection; and Dakota Feuss of the Oxford Livewires – merit.

Intermediate member Elizabeth Creveling of Jones County Central participated in Clothing Selection and received a merit.

Senior members participating in Clothing Selection were Calli McQuillen of the Scotch Grove Challengers – excellence and state fair selection; Courtney Adams of the Prairie Hill – excellence and state fair alternate; Darcey Tjaden of the Wyoming Pioneers – excellence; Becca Ahrendsen of Olin – excellence; and Shyanne Kirby of Jones County Central – merit.
