Belvidere, Ill. – Wilma Marie (Helgens) Rink, 95, of Belvidere, Ill. died peacefully Tuesday, April 23, 2013, in Maple Crest Care Centre, Belvidere, Ill.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Saturday April 27, 2013, in Jefferson Prairie Lutheran Church with Rev. Thomas Groth officiating. Her burial was in the Jefferson Prairie Cemetery (West). Visitation was from 10 a.m. to service time at the church.
Wilma was born May 27, 1917, in Monticello, Iowa the daughter of William and Emma (Belling) Helgens. She married Edward Jon Rink on August 26, 1935 in Monticello, Iowa. Wilma was a long-time member of Jefferson Prairie Lutheran Church, Clinton, Wis., and has lived and worked in the Poplar Grove, Belvidere, Ill. area since moving from Iowa in 1937. She was an avid listener of the Cubs radio broadcasts and always interested in world affairs.
She is survived by brothers Bob (Garnett) Helgens and Jim Helgens of Monticello, Iowa; children Ramona (Larry) Lewis of Milwaukee, Wis., Rex Rink of Roscoe, Ill., Roger (Chris) Rink of DuBois, Wyo.; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her parents; step-mother Anna (Folken) Helgens; brother Richard Helgens; husband Edward Rink; son Richard Rink; daughter-in-law Sue Rink.
Wilma was a farming housewife, worked 10 years at Automatic Electric in Genoa, Ill; and worked food services at Northwoods Care Center in Belvidere, Ill. until retirement
