Lawrence J. Siebels, 95, of Mechanicsville, died Wed., May 22, 2013, at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wed., May 29, 2013 (today) at the Stanwood Lutheran Church with Reverend Jordan McKinley officiating. Burial will be at the Stanwood Cemetery. Friends called Tues., May 28, 2013, from 4-7 p.m. at the Chapman Funeral Home in Clarence.

Lawrence was born May 8, 1918, in Monticello, Iowa, the son of Menno Garret Siebels and Fannie Schaefer. On Dec. 20, 1945, he was united in marriage with Louise Lehrman. She died Dec. 11, 2007.

Lawrence served in the Army in World War II in the Pacific Theater, and received a Purple Heart. He was a member of the Stanwood Legion and St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Stanwood.

He is survived by two sons, Dale of Stanwood, and Dave (Sue) of Stanwood; a daughter, Shirley Poucher of Denver, Colo.; a sister, Irene Pauline Mardorf; grandchildren, Becky Lynn (Poucher) Gertson, Deborah Ann, Vickie Ann (Poucher), Bryan David, Carrie Beth Hahn (Joel), Michael Grant, Christine Marie and Daniel Lawrence; great-grandchildren, Zachary Jody Lee Hahn, Elizabeth Ann Marie (Hahn), and Aliya Joan.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Agusta; a brother, Edward; sister-in-law, Alice Siebels; and brother-in-law, Richard Mardorf.
