Monticello, Hall finish second in EIGA tournament

Dustin Hall shot a 141 to finish third overall, and the Monticello team tied for second place in the Eastern Iowa Golf Association Tournament Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 10-11 at the Tipton Country Club.

The Wapsi team from Anamosa won the team title with a score of 1526 (top 10 scores combined). Monticello and Dyersville each shot 1538 to tie for second.

Remaining team scores were: Solon, fourth with 1542; Bellevue, fifth with 1545; Mount Vernon, sixth with 1548; Tipton, seventh with 1567; West Liberty, eighth with 1569; and Wahkonsa (Durant), ninth with 1578.

Greg Rios of Wahkonsa shot 137, including a 65 on Saturday, to win the individual title. Monticello’s Hall was third with 141, which included a 69 on Sunday. Matt Wennekamp of Monticello shot 145 to tie for fourth place with Sean Smith of Wapsi.

Other Monticello scores were Mike Wennekamp with 148, Tim Norton with 149, Chance Manternach with 155, Phil McDonald with 157, Andy Manternach with 162, Kevin Bergman with 163, Kevin Goedken with 165, Aaron Prull with 168, Diz Edwards with 169 and Austin Lynch with 170.

Tim Norton was Monticello’s recipient of the EIGA scholarship.
