Marie Catherine Holub, 99, of Prairieburg, died Monday, Aug. 26, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center. Funeral Mass was held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 30, 2013, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Prairieburg by Father David O’Connor. Visitation was from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29 at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Central City where a Scripture took place at 3:30 p.m. Burial was in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Prairieburg.
Marie was born May 12, 1914, in Langworthy, Iowa. She was the daughter of Henry and Mary Stulken. On Jan. 8, 1941, she married Lester Holub at Sacred Heart Church in Monticello. He died July 1, 1982.
Marie was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and the St. Joseph’s Altar & Rosary Society where she was involved in decorating of the Altar.
She loved baking, embroidery, flower gardens, being with family and friends, and the CUBS.
Survivors include her son, Keith (Cathy) Holub of Prairieburg and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sons, Laverne and an infant son; and four brothers, George, Vincent, Clarence, and Lawrence.
