Helen Edna Boss, 95, a resident of Monticello Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, died there on Sunday, Sept. 1, 2013. Funeral Services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4, at Peace Lutheran Church, Ryan. Visitation was from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3 at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Central City, and one hour prior to the service at the church. A graveside Service took place at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4 at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Helen was born Aug. 10, 1918, the daughter of William and Anna (Balster) Brokens. She was united in marriage to Edward Boss on Oct. 26, 1938, in Monticello, Iowa. She was an active member at Peace Lutheran Church in Ryan. She was a loving wife and mother.
Survivors include her children, Kay Lee (Thomas) Grunst of Yuma, Ariz., Joyce Rigby of Monticello, and John Boss of Hopkinton; nine grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Ed (Velda) Brokens of Monticello.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Boss; and two brothers, Bob and Kenny Brokens.
