Elaine LaVerle (Stone) Robinson, 75, Alden, died Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013, at Iowa Hospice at Ellsworth Municipal Hospital of cancer and COPD.
Celebration of life will be held Sept. 29, 2013, at the Alden Hilltop Community Center on Hardin St. at 1:30 with a short memorial service at 3:00.
She was born May 5, 1938, in Oelwein, Iowa, daughter of Dale and Gertrude (Destival) Stone. Elaine graduated from St. John’s Catholic High School in May of 1956. She married Army Specialist Gerald Henry Robinson, SR. on September 24, 1956, in Independence.
She was employed as a nurse’s aide in Iowa Falls and Atlantic, a store attendant in Independence, and an over-the-road semi driver with her husband. She was a member of St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church.
Elaine is survived by her husband of 56 years; four daughters: Davina (Don) Belden of Buckeye and daughter Rebeca; Monica Lillard of Des Moines and children Joshua, Wendi, Staci, Jacob, and Kerri; deaf twin daughters, Sharla (Randall) Cox of Council Bluffs and her children Adam, Trudy, and Vanessa; Sheila (Scott Moxley) of Council Bluffs and her children Belinda “LB”, Natasha and Jerry (Nick) “JW”; son, Sergeant E8 Gerald “JR” (Angie) of Randall and sons Tristan and Taylr; 22 great-grandchildren; brother LeRoy (Mona) Stone of Independence; sister Deborah Greene of Sioux City and numerous nieces and nephews.
Elaine was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather Carl Koehler; brothers Jack and Michael; and sisters Alice and Jean.
