Lotus Garden serves up delicious pork dishes

Four years in business certainly went fast for Lotus Garden.

Owner Minh Tran said time has flown by since he opened, with business steady over the lunch and dinner hours.

Offering such a wide variety of dishes to choose from, among Lotus Garden’s meat offerings are plenty of pork dishes.

“Our most popular are Kung Pao Pork and Saechwan Pork,” explained Tran.

Both dishes are on the spicy side, if that’s what you prefer. Other pork dishes include Pork Chow Mein, Sweet and Sour Pork, Moo Shu Pork, Pork Lo Mein and Pork with Mushrooms. Occasionally, Lotus Garden will feature a special lunch item. One of their most common pork special is Pork Chop Suey.

“We go with what’s popular for our lunch specials,” said Tran.

Everything at Lotus Garden is prepared fresh daily. Tran said they cook small portions of vegetables and meat at a time, depending on how busy the restaurant is.

“All of our vegetables are fresh,” he said. “We prepare what we anticipate selling that day.”

Tran explained after four years in business here in Monticello, he’s gotten a sense for how much and what sells.

Along with your choice of vegetables in a dish, Lotus Garden also offers both a light and dark sauce for flavor. Tran said typically they prepare the light sauce with the white meat dishes such as chicken and pork, and the dark sauce for dark meat dishes with beef.

“But people can request whatever sauce they want,” he clarified.

Lotus Garden, located in downtown Monticello, is open Tuesday through Sunday for lunch and dinner. You can dine in or carry out.
