Patricia Lee (Podhaski) Petersen, age 82, passed away peacefully on Oct. 31, 2013, at St. Luke’s Hospice House in Kansas City, Mo.
A private family burial was held Nov. 2.
Patricia (Patty) was born Dec. 3, 1931, in Monticello, the daughter of Charles and Hilda Podhaski. She graduated from Monticello High School in 1949, and attended the University of Iowa. She married Phillip “Pete” Petersen in 1951, and the couple lived in Indianapolis, Ind., Marion, Iowa, and Kansas City, Mo.
She managed a Spiegel Catalog store in Cedar Rapids before moving to Kansas City. Then she was employed at a juvenile detention center for several years.
She is survived by three daughters, Lori Scarborough, Keri (Lewis) Thomas, both of Kansas City, and Jodi (Christopher) Barry of San Francisco, Calif.; one brother, Jeff (Carol) Podhaski of Monticello; sisters Judy Gerks of Cambridge, Ill., and Audrey (Lester) Schatz of Myrtle Beach, N. C.; four grandchildren, Evan Thomas, Laurel (Thomas) Hayhome, Brandon and Brittany Scarborough; great-grandchildren Ellie Scarborough, Hunter and Travis Hayhome.
Patricia was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and sisters Betty Holdeman and Wanda Weidman.
