The Feb. 7 PPEL (Physical Plant and Equipment Levy) vote for the Monticello Community School District passed, 372 “yes” votes against 104 “no” votes.
A simple majority was needed to pass, requiring 239 “yes” votes of the total 476.
This approval allows the MCSD to continue levying 67 cents per $1,000 of assessed valuation. This results in $240,000 a year to the district.
PPEL is nothing new. In fact, it has been in place within the MCSD since 2008.
Without the approval of PPEL, it would have expired at the end of June 2018.
