During the evening of Wednesday, July 14, the State of Iowa experienced quite an outbreak of tornadoes, including Delaware County.
According to the National Weather Service out of the Quad Cities, Iowa saw 26 tornadoes pop up during the course of the storm as it moved across the north-central portion of the state. Three of those, rating as an EF-1 (winds peaked at 105 to 110 mph), were located in Jones County near the rural Monticello and Jones County areas:
• Near Langworthy, a tornado touched down for 1.8 miles at a width of 40 yards.
