Franklin Gerhard Frostestad Oct. 25, 1943 – Oct. 28, 2024

       Franklin Gerhard Frostestad died at home on Oct. 28, 2024 from the effects of cancer.

   Funeral services will be held at Bethany Lutheran Church in West Branch on Nov. 2, 2024.  Visitation will be from 9 until 11 a.m. followed by funeral at 11 a.m.  Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Monticello at 2 p.m.  Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello, has taken Frank and his family into their care. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Bethany Lutheran Church, University of Iowa Cancer Center, Iowa City Hospice, or EWALU Lutheran camp in his name.

Sharon Kae Dettbarn Dec. 8, 1943 – Oct. 23, 2024

      Sharon Kay Dettbarn, 80, of Hopkinton, Iowa, passed away on Oct. 23, 2024, in her home with her husband Ron by her side. Sharon was born on Dec. 8, 1943, in Monticello, Iowa the twin daughter to Fred and Frieda (Ricklefs) Cords. She was raised and educated in Delhi and was a 1961 graduate of Maquoketa Valley High School. Sharon began her career at Rockwell Collins in 1962 in manufacturing as an assembly operator. She worked her way up and in 1972 became an industrial engineering technician and held that position until she retired on Jan. 31, 2002.

Julia “Judy” Simmons Feb. 10, 1942 – Oct. 24, 2024

      Julia “Judy” Ellen (Holmes) Simmons, 82, of Anamosa, Iowa passed away Thursday, Oct. 24, 2024 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa.

    A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2024 at the American Legion Hall in Monticello, Iowa. During this celebration, there will be a small service from 2 – 2:30 p.m. for visitors to take part in sharing stories of Judy.

Thomas Beadle Dec. 5, 1939 – Oct. 14, 2024

      Thomas Beadle, 84, died Monday, Oct. 14, 2024, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids with his family at his bedside. 

    Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, 2024, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Monticello. Father Paul Baldwin officiated. Interment was in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Friends called after 9 a.m., Saturday at the church.  You may sign the guestbook or leave a condolence at Goettschonline.com.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic School Foundation. 

Jane Maurice Bohlin March 23, 1940 – Oct. 14, 2024

      Jane Maurice Bohlin, 84, of Park Forest, Ill., passed away on Oct. 14, 2024, in Olympia Fields, Ill. Funeral services were held at Lain-Sullivan Funeral Home in Park Forest on Oct. 23, 2024. Visitation was from 4 to 6 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., and service from 6 to 7 p.m. officiated by Pastor Dennis Langden. Final burial will take place on Oct. 26, 2024,  at Oakwood Cemetery in Monticello at 11 a.m.

Judy A. Supple Feb. 7, 1956 – Oct. 17, 2024

      Judy A. Supple, 68, of Temple Hill, Iowa passed away Thursday, Oct. 17, 2024 at  Silver Oaks Care Center in Marion, Iowa.

    Friends and relatives of Judy called from 3 to 6 p.m., Monday, Oct. 21, 2024 at Reiff Funeral Home in Cascade.  Visitation continued after 11 a.m., on Tuesday, Oct. 22,  at the funeral home. Services for Judy were held  at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 22,  at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Temple Hill with Rev. Mark Osterhaus presiding.  Burial was held in St. Peter’s Cemetery in Temple Hill.

      Sharon Howie, 84, of River Falls, Wis., formerly of Monticello, Iowa, died peacefully in her sleep Tuesday, Oct. 1 in her home.

    Surviving Sharon are her children, Ann (Dennis) Stedman, of Maplewood, Minn., Ralph Robovsky

of Shoreview, Minn. and Robert Howie of River Falls, Wis.; grandchildren, Julia, Dalton, Logan, Riley; great-grandson, Cooper; sister Joyce (Jay) Oehlerich; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

      David (Beef) Klaren, 59, of Monticello died Monday, Sept. 30, 2024, at St. Lukes Hospital, Cedar Rapids following a sudden illness.

    Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 7, 2024, at Oakwood Cemetery, Monticello. Visitation was held from 9 until 11 a.m. at Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello.
