      Ann Schrader, 88, died Sunday, Sept. 29, 2024, at Monticello Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following an extended illness.

    Mass of Christian Burial was held 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, 2024, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Monticello with interment in the Oakwood Cemetery. Friends called after 9:30 a.m. at the church.  Father Paul Baldwin officiated at the services. Kathleen Holmes Oct. 24, 1944 – Sept. 23, 2024

      Kathleen Holmes, 79, died Monday, Sept. 23, 2024, at Good Neighbor Home, Manchester after an extended illness.

    Mass of Chrisitan Burial will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 4, 2024, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church where visitation will resume at 10 a.m.  Fr. Paul Baldwin will officiate at the services. Visitation will be held from 4 until 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3 at Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello.  A parish Vigil Service will start the visitation at 4 p.m.  The interment will be in the Oakwood Cemetery.

Beverly Ann Rohwedder July 3, 1934 – Sept. 23, 2024

      Beverly Ann (Swenson) Rohwedder, age 90, peacefully went home to be with her Lord on Sept. 23, surrounded by her loving family.

    Born on July 3, 1934, to Michael and Eva (Easterly) Swenson, Beverly caught the attention of a charming farm boy with a new convertible, and they wed at the "Little Brown Church". Together, they celebrated 74 wonderful years until Alan's passing last year.

Frank Smith May 31, 1924 – Sept. 23, 2024

      Frank Warren. Smith was born May 31, 1924, at Hopkinton, Iowa.  He was the son of Bert A. and Frances Matheson Smith and middle child of 12 siblings.  He went to school and participated in baseball and basketball, graduating from High School in 1941. He and his brothers spent a lot of time in the gymnasium at the school where their mother was the head cook!   He also attended the Methodist Church in Hopkinton with his family.

      Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Trumm, 89, of Cascade, Iowa passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2024, at her home in Cascade.

    Visitation for Betty was held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 30, 2024, at Reiff Funeral Home in Cascade, where a prayer service was held at 3:30 p.m.  

Marilyn K. Moats Opperman Death – Sept. 19, 2024

    Marilyn K. Moats Opperman, 83, of Monticello, Iowa passed away Thursday, Sept. 19, 2024 at The Gardens of Cedar Rapids, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

    Visitation was held from 9–11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2024 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Monticello. Funeral services commenced at 11 a.m. with burial in the church cemetery.  Rev. Paul Baldwin officiated and Rev. Paul McManus concelebrated.

Virgil Behrends Sept. 30, 1936 – Sept. 9, 2024

      Virgil Behrends, 87, passed away Monday, Sept. 9, 2024, at the Anamosa Care Center.  Funeral services were held, 10:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 16, 2024, at Wayne Zion Lutheran Church, rural Monticello with interment at Wayne Zion Cemetery.  Pastor Holly Knouse officiated the services. Michael Helgens Jan. 24, 1983 – Aug. 26, 2024

      A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away… It is a period of great sadness. Michael Helgens, age 41, of Monticello, Iowa has been called to join the stars on Aug. 26, in Dallas, Texas, after a brief illness, he departed this world.

      Brenda Kay (Harried) Luensman, 55, of Monticello, entered  into heaven on Friday, Sept. 13, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.

Robert (Bob) Bearce Death – Sept. 6, 2024

      Robert (Bob) Bearce, 63, of Edgewood passed away unexpectedly Sept. 6, 2024.

    Bob was a free spirit. He lived life on his own terms, indifferent to fear - either his own, or those of others. He loved drawing and to tinker with anything he could get his hands on. He always had a story to tell of his younger, and very wild days. Bob always had something witty to say, whether it be insightful or sarcastic. If you needed something fixed or a helping hand he was the first person to get there and didn’t leave until the job was done.
