David “Dave” Nicholas Klein, 65, of Hale, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Wednesday June 18, 2025, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics surrounded by his loving wife, Lisa, and son, Jason.

      Dave was born on Nov. 27, 1959, in Monticello, Iowa. He was raised by his mother, Mildred “Millie” (Brokaw) Markmann and stepfather, Carl. He graduated from Olin High School, class of 1978. After building a life together for many years, Dave and Lisa were married July 25, 2011.

      David W. Strang, 80, of Cascade, Iowa passed away on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at his home in Cascade.

      Visitation for Dave was held from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at Reiff Funeral Home in Cascade, where services were held at 1 p.m. with Deacon Steve Strang presiding.  Full Military Honors followed by Cascade American Legion Post #528.  

Margaret "Peg" Cashman April 20, 1937 - June 26, 2025

      Margaret (Peg) Cashman was born in Dubuque, Iowa on April 20, 1937 and died at Scottish Rite Park in Des Moines, Iowa on June 26, 2025. 

      Peg was a life-long farmer with her husband, Maurice, on their dairy farm in Castle Grove Township near Monticello.  She raised six children teaching them the value of hard work, the benefit of an education, and the value of a dollar.

      Peg and Maurice moved to Kalona in 2000 where they made their retirement.  They enjoyed living near and learning from the Amish community.

Larry "Shady" Bronemann May 17, 1945 - June 26, 2025

Larry ”Shady”  Bronemann, 85, died peacefully Thursday, June 26, 2025 at his home surrounded by his loving family. 

      Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello with interment in the Sacred Heart Cemetery with Military Honors. Friends called from 4 until 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.  Rev Paul Baldwin officiated at the services.

Judith "Judy" Ann McDonald Skay April 9, 1941 -- June 15, 2025

Judith “Judy” Ann McDonald Skay passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 15, 2025, in Walla Walla, Wash. She was born on April 8, 1941, at John McDonald Hospital in Monticello, Iowa, and grew up in the small town of Scotch Grove.

Deborah (Tholen) Kuker July 30, 1952 -- Dec. 28, 2024

My Dear Sister

      Deborah (Tholen) Kuker, 72, passed away peacefully on Dec. 28, 2024, at West Ridge Care Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, following a wonderful three-month health rally that gave her and her sister, Cynda, cherished daily time together. Cynda was by her side as God and their beloved Mama Gladys welcomed Deb to Heaven, helping her gain her "Angel Wings."

Ruth "Betty" E. Lambert April 15, 1931–June 8, 2025

      Ruth “Betty” E. Lambert, 94, of Olin, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 8, 2025 at The Gardens of Cedar Rapids, surrounded by the love of her family. A visitation was held on Saturday, June 14, 2025, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Dawson Funeral Services in Olin. A celebration of her life began at 11 a.m. She will be laid to rest at the Olin Cemetery.

DuWayne Schneiderman Death – June 14, 2025

      DuWayne graduated into Heaven's gates early morning, June 14.  He was being cared for at Pinicon Senior Living, Anamosa where he spent 26 days. His wife, Marilyn, was recovering from a successful heart surgery.

Ronald Steffen Dec. 7, 1961 – June 8, 2025

      Ronald Steffen, 63, died Sunday, June 8, 2025, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids following an extended illness. 

    A celebration of Life will be held from 4 until 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 11, at Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello.   With interment in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Dubuque at a later date.  Thoughts, memories and condolences may be left at www.goettschonline.com.

    Surviving is his son, Alex, and his mother, Nancy Steffen.  He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth, and a brother, Jeff.
