     • 1:56 a.m. -- Police responded to the 200 block of East First Street for an alarm activation.

• A one-vehicle incident caused major damage to a 2022 Ford F-350. 

A crash report states Scott William Ballard, 41, of Cedar Rapids, was driving on Fremont Road at 8:19 a.m. Dec. 10 and drove over ice. Ballard’s truck entered the ditch and was impacted in the left rear by the to-axle utility trailer he was pulling when the rig jack-knifed. 

Damage to the truck was estimated at $20,000. 

Ballard was also cited for failure to produce a valid driver’s license.

• Shelia Machel Walter, 59, of Cedar Rapids, was arrested at 1:25 p.m. Dec. 4 on a charge of driving while barred. 

Court documents state Walter was involved in a single-vehicle crash near mile marker 61 on U.S. 151. Upon arrival, officers found Walter in the driver’s seat of her vehicle and learned her driving status was barred, documents state. 

 

• David Sterling, 39, of Monticello, pleaded guilty to three counts of first-degree theft.
