• Shelia Machel Walter, 59, of Cedar Rapids, was arrested at 1:25 p.m. Dec. 4 on a charge of driving while barred. 

Court documents state Walter was involved in a single-vehicle crash near mile marker 61 on U.S. 151. Upon arrival, officers found Walter in the driver’s seat of her vehicle and learned her driving status was barred, documents state. 

 

• David Sterling, 39, of Monticello, pleaded guilty to three counts of first-degree theft.

• Elizabeth Mae Topping, 23, of Anamosa, pleaded guilty to two counts of animal neglect with injury.

•  Orlando Gerald Rodriguez Mojena, 26, of Platteville, Wis., pleaded guilty to a charge of sex offender registry requirement violation.

Rodriguez Mojena received an 18--day jail sentence, which was suspended, and was fined $855 plus court costs.

 

• Justin Adrian Christiansen, 40, of Bettendorf, pleaded guilty to a charge of possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) - third or subsequent offense.

• A deer vs. car incident took place at 5:59 p.m. Nov. 17.

A crash report states Scott Dean Harms, of Cedar Rapids, was driving on Highway 64 and hit the animal.

Damage to Harms’s 2011 Toyota RAV-4 was estimated at $1,500.

 

• Three people -- two motorists and a passenger -- from Monticello sustained minor injuries in a two-vehicle crash at 3:36 p.m. Nov. 13.
