   10:47 a.m. – Police requested extra patrol in the 400 block of E. First St.

   11 a.m. – Police performed a welfare check in the 200 block of N. Main St.

Jan. 10

   9:26 a.m. – Police received a report of fraud from the 500 block of N. Sycamore St.

Sheriff’s Report

   A two-vehicle accident took place on Dec. 29 at 9:42 a.m. on Highway 151. Edmond James Patnaude, 71, of Monticello was driving a 2016 Chevy Cruze LT, traveling north in the righthand lane. Nichole Lee Ludley, 33, of Cascade was driving a 2006 Chevy Cobalt SS, also traveling north in the lefthand lane. Ludley crossed the centerline, striking Patnaude’s vehicle on the driver’s side. Neither driver was injured. Damage to Patnaude’s was estimated at $3,500, with $4,000 in damages to Ludley’s vehicle.

District Court

   Michelle Lea Clinton, Anamosa, was charged with 4th degree theft. A preliminary hearing is set for Jan. 9.

   John Patrick Drake, Cedar Rapids, was charged with operating a motor vehicle without owner’s consent. No court date was set.

   Milton Weir, Fort Madison, entered an Alford plea for the charge of interference with official acts. Sentence and fine are pending.

   Joshua Harley Kelley, Iowa City, was charged with forgery. A preliminary hearing is set for Jan. 23.

Magistrate Court

   Bryan J. Finn, Anamosa, was found guilty of two counts of no valid driver’s license. He was fined a total of $520 plus court costs.

   Lovepreet Singh, Tracy, Calif., pleaded guilty to speeding. He was fined $55 plus court costs.

   Caleb Daniel Dowell, Monticello, was found guilty of trespassing 1st offense and 2nd offense. He was fined a total of $905 plus court costs. Dowell was also found guilty of violating City of Monticello ordinances. He was fined $750 plus court costs.

Dec. 30

   6:41 p.m. – Police responded to a traffic hazard on Highway 151 southbound near Business Highway 151.

   8:20 p.m. – Police received a report of fraud from the 600 block of S. Main St. Allison Barnhart was arrested for a fake ID.

Dec. 31

   4:47 p.m. – Police responded to a disturbance on S. Maple St.

   • After 41 years, Arnie Andreesen has retired from his post as Jones County Assessor. Chief Deputy Assessor Sarah Benter has been appointed the new county assessor. (1/3/2018)

   • Newly elected Jones County Supervisor Joe Oswald, District II, was officially welcomed to the Board at its Jan. 2 meeting. Oswald was elected to replace retiring Supervisor Leo Cook. (1/9/2013)

   Donald Edwards Richards III, Cedar Rapids, pleaded guilty to assault causing bodily injury (domestic abuse). Judgment was deferred, and he was placed on self-supervised probation for one year. He was ordered to pay a civil penalty of $430 plus court costs. Richards had a charge of domestic abuse assault-impeding air/blood flow causing bodily injury, dismissed.

Magistrate Court

   Norbert M. Hunt, Monticello, was found guilty of no seatbelt. He was fined $70 plus court costs.

   Raymond Calvin Wasson, Rifle, Colo., was found guilty of fraudulent use of registration and no valid driver’s license. He was fined a total of $520 plus court costs.

   Eric John Steve, Dubuque, pleaded guilty to speeding, no insurance, and driving while license denied, suspended, cancelled, revoked. He was fined a total of $695 plus court costs.

   Jose Roberto Hernandez, Green Bay, Wis., pleaded guilty to speeding. He was fined $55 plus court costs.
